What Is A Press Kit?
Why Do You Need A Press Kit?
- It Saves You Time
After you take on a new client, you can present all of your company information through a press kit rather than spending hours answering questions.
- It Allows You to Promote a Specific Service/Event
If your company wants to highlight a new product or upcoming event, you are able to do that easily. The press kit can also include pre-approved images of your services.
- It Gives You More Control
A press kit allows you to present yourself as you want to be seen. It allows you to control the message your audience will receive and the images they will be exposed to.
- It Increases Client Confidence
Providing a well-put-together press kit can give new clients confidence in your company experience and professionalism.
What Should Your Press Kit Contain?
The company’s story should include how the company came to be, mission statement and process. This gives the press an insight into who your company is as a brand.
A fact sheet
The fact sheet is a one-page document listing some quick facts about the company. When the company was founded, who the founder is, one sentence of what your company does, geographic reach, awards, etc.
A press kit should include images of your company logo, branding, and products. Ensure that these pictures are professional and creative – you can even consider hiring a photoshop specialist to ensure they look great. Have around 5 to 10 photos to choose from.
Have a one-page profile of the key spokesperson from the company, including their background, education, credentials, and experience.
The press kit should provide links to all company social media platforms. This may include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Channel, WeChat, Instagram and or Weibo.
Samples of Previous Press Coverage
Show reporters other publications that have featured your company. If you have many articles to choose from, make sure you share only the best quality articles to give reporters an idea of how you want to be covered.
A press release is an official announcement that the company issues to the news, or media. This may include product announcements, company updates, new partners or collaborations, etc. For ideas of what a press release should look like, check the samples below:
